How to play Rhyme Rush

Touch controls: Tap one of four large option tiles under the target; each tile is at least 58 pixels high and half the card wide, so a thumb reaches all four without moving the phone, and the target card stays above the tiles at 320 pixels wide with no sideways scrolling.

Keyboard controls: Keys 1 to 4 pick the four options, Enter or Space starts a run from the title or the end screen, P or Escape pauses and resumes, R restarts, M toggles sound.

Screen: This game works best in any orientation.

About Rhyme Rush

Rhyme Rush is judged on sound rather than meaning. A target word sits at the top of the card and four words sit beneath it, and exactly one of those four ends in the same sound as the target: cat answers hat, moon answers spoon, night answers sight. Nothing on the card asks the player to spell anything, and no distractor is a near-miss of the target spelled differently, so the decision is always a sound decision.

Every round runs against its own clock, and the clock gives a little less ground every four rhymes. A correct pick scores the rhyme and the seconds still standing on the bar, so a confident player scores twice, and three missed rounds close the rush.
