How to play Puddle Pulse
Touch controls: Press and hold the left or right half of the card to steer, or drag towards the side you want to turn; the whole card is a steering surface, so no control has to be hit precisely, and the marked channel and the craft scale to fit a 320 pixel wide phone in landscape without sideways scrolling.
Keyboard controls: Left arrow or A steers left, right arrow or D steers right, P or Escape pauses, R restarts, M toggles sound.
Screen: This game works best in landscape orientation.
About Puddle Pulse
Puddle Pulse is a checkpoint race on open water with no walls and no finish line to crash into. The craft is a hovercraft: it always carries its momentum, it answers the steering a moment late, and a missed gate costs a third of its speed rather than a repair. Gates are pairs of buoys strung around an original pond circuit drawn for this game alone, and they must be taken in order.
Because the craft never stops, the interesting decision is line rather than throttle. A wide entry lets the craft drift past the buoys and throw away speed, while a tight entry keeps the pace up and keeps the clean run bonus alive. There is no damage model at all: the only things that can end a good session are the clock and a run of missed gates.
