How to play Laser Lattice

Touch controls: Dragging anywhere in the lattice steers the runner toward the finger with an eased follow, so the whole board is a control surface and no small target has to be hit; taps also work because the press itself sets the destination. The board uses touch-action none so dragging never scrolls the page.

Keyboard controls: Arrow keys or W A S D move the runner with acceleration, Space stops following the finger, Enter starts a run, P or Escape pauses, R restarts and M toggles sound.

Screen: This game works best in any orientation.

About Laser Lattice

Laser Lattice is a dodging game where nothing falls. Five emitters sit on fixed pivots, two in the top corners, two in the bottom corners and one in the middle, and each one sweeps a beam around at its own speed and in its own direction. The gaps between the beams open and close on a rhythm that never changes, so the pattern can be learned rather than guessed.

The runner can go anywhere in the lattice, and that is the pressure: the power cells light up in different places and fade again after a few seconds, so collecting means crossing the beams rather than hiding from them. Three catches end the run, and each catch stalls the beams for a moment, which is the game being fair rather than kind.
