How to play Climb Crisis

Touch controls: Tap anywhere on the wall to reach that spot and climb one grip, and tap sideways to dodge a stone; taps are read from the pointer position with a one to one mapping to the canvas, and the canvas uses touch-action none so the page never scrolls.

Keyboard controls: Left and right arrows or A and D reach ninety pixels sideways, up arrow or W or Space climbs straight up from the current position, down arrow or S rests on the hold and halves the drain, P or Escape pauses, R restarts and M toggles sound.

Screen: This game works best in portrait orientation.

About Climb Crisis

Climb Crisis is a vertical game with one resource. The climber can reach anywhere on the wall, but every reach costs grip, and the grip meter drains on its own the whole time the climber is hanging. Height is bought with grip, so the run is a long negotiation between climbing faster and staying on the wall.

Pale chalk bands interrupt the wall every sixth row of holds. A reach that lands inside a chalk band restores grip and pays a bonus, which is why good climbers look up before they move. Stones fall from the top at the same time, and taking one costs more grip than a whole row of reaches. The climb ends when the meter empties, or when two minutes are up.
