How to play Goal Guard

Touch controls: Press or drag anywhere on the card and the keeper moves to that horizontal position on the goal line, so the whole card is one big control and no small target has to be hit.

Keyboard controls: Left and Right arrows move the keeper along the line, C recentres the keeper, P or Escape pauses, R restarts, M toggles sound.

Screen: This game works best in landscape orientation.

About Goal Guard

Goal Guard puts the player on the goal line and nothing else. Shots leave the bottom of the card one after another, each with a faint dashed line showing the lane it is taking, and the keeper follows wherever the player presses or drags. The job is to be in the right place when the ball arrives.

There is no attacking half and no score to chase beyond the saves themselves, which keeps each session short and sharp. The shots get quicker, the lanes get wider and later in the session two shots can be on their way at once, so the reads have to come earlier. It is played for points only: there is no stake, no real team, no badge and no likeness of any player.
