About OSS Dict

OSS Dict reads dictionary files stored on an Android phone. Add your files with Android's document chooser, select which dictionaries take part in searches, and look up a word across them. Searches ignore differences in case, punctuation, and accents.

You can bookmark entries, revisit lookup history, and change an article's appearance with custom styles. Fullscreen reading and volume-button navigation provide other ways to move through longer entries. Supported file formats include Slob, MDict, StarDict, and DSL.

The app is free. You supply the dictionary files; it does not download them for you. Local entries work offline, while external links and remotely hosted images need a connection. The available languages and content depend on the dictionaries you add.

What you can do

  • Search multiple local dictionaries
  • Case and accent insensitive lookup
  • Bookmarks and lookup history
  • Custom article styles
  • Slob, MDict, StarDict and DSL files

Free features and limits

Dictionary files are supplied by you and imported from the device; the app does not download dictionaries itself.
