How to play Shard Square
Touch controls: Tap a shard to pick it up and tap the cell where its top left corner goes; Rotate and Lift last sit under the board and are at least 44 pixels tall. Shard buttons are at least 44 pixels tall and the board scales to the space left on the screen so no cell is off screen.
Keyboard controls: Arrow keys or W A S D move the board cursor, number keys 1 to 6 choose a shard, Space or Enter places the chosen shard or lifts the one under the cursor, T turns the chosen shard a quarter, U lifts the last shard placed, R restarts the run, P or Escape pauses, and M toggles sound.
Screen: This game works best in any orientation.
About Shard Square
Shard Square is a shape fitting puzzle. Every board shows a pale silhouette and a row of crystal shards, and each shard has to drop onto the silhouette so that no cell is left empty and no cell is covered twice. Shards arrive turned a quarter from the way the board was drawn, so a four wide bar is handed over standing on end and has to be turned before it can lie along a row.
Five boards follow one another, from a plain four by four square up to a six by six bench with a notch cut out of one corner, and each board is built from a genuine partition of its own silhouette, so every one can be filled completely.
