ZACH BRYAN GAVE ME CHILLS! Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs | First Reaction

It’s time to bring Zach Bryan to the channel! I’ve been familiar with his music for a while, but those listens happened off camera. Today, we’re sitting down with all eight tracks on Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs and giving this project our full attention. “Lodi When” starts things off with a chorus that immediately stands out. It feels like a tremendous opener while also being a song I could enjoy completely on its own. “Robot Killed The Working Man” brings that distinct vocal tone I appreciate from Zach. It might not be my most replayed track here, but the progression and the way he lets his voice loose toward the end really elevate the listen. “Lies,” featuring Lana Del Rey, is a beautiful collaboration. The piano, strings, and soothing melody carry so much emotion, with an elegant feel that makes the heartbreak hit even harder. “Dog Days” picks up the energy with a pace and delivery that give it the feeling of a live performance. It brings a welcome lift right around the middle of the project. “Backwards” immediately feels like a potential personal favorite. This is one I can already picture putting on in the car and singing along to, beyond listening to it as part of the EP. “Plainsman,” featuring Turnpike Troubadours, takes me somewhere with its atmosphere. It fits the project so naturally, and I can see this becoming another favorite that keeps finding its way into my rotation. “Is The Blue Tangled In You?” gives us a vocal performance that makes me stop and appreciate the experience of hearing a song for the first time. Zach’s control and the emotion he brings through his voice really connect here. “You’ll Get By” closes things out with a moment that gave me chills and nearly brought out a few tears. It feels like one of those songs that can land differently depending on when you need to hear it. There’s a lot packed into these eight tracks: different instrumentation, strong collaborations, and moments that feel intimate alongside others I can imagine hearing live.
