Raga of Revenge: How Anirudh built that massive sound

Composer Anirudh's viral hit for the film DC (2026), a soundtrack called "Raga of Revenge," feels like an overwhelming overload of sounds, and yet we are able to feel the emotion behind it, and understand what the characters are going through. How does the composer achieve this? We take a look at the "hero" like lead vocal that your brain is led to track, among the crowding of many other sounds from many other genres. This video shows seven special things about the Raga of Revenge: 1. It is hard to separate out the layers of music in the Raga of Revenge 2. It's visual equivalent is like your brain being able to track the hero in a crowd 3. It relies on Indian maximalism and comfort with sensory overload 4. It suits the intensity of the story, the intensity of the music is not merely decorative 5. It is related to an old production technique called the "Wall of sound" 6. It is different from the "wall of sound" because the multiple layers of music come from wholly different genres 7. It uses wrong notes for creative effect and ends up suiting the rebellious characters ATTRIBUTIONS Theme Music: Raga of Revenge Composer: Anirudh Ravichander Film: DC Fans reacting to Raga of Revenge By: The Reacting Bros Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJUCnBq6HSQ Composer Anirudh at Studio By: Anirudh Ravichander Official channel Musical Notes Flying Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYwNrpL3Lgo Hero in office and crowd scenes Film: The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) Indian wedding scenes From: Amardeep Productions Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2iumBHE2SM Rajasthani style meal From: Ivana Perkovic Link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBmL25Nfe6c Song: Arabic Kuthu Composer: Anirudh Film: Beast (2022) Anirudh Concert of Hukum Song By: SUN TV Rajinikanth hero entry scene Background score: Hukum Composer: Anirudh Film: Jailer (2024) Party music scene featuring Shah Rukh Khan Song: Chammak Challo Film: Ra One (2011) Composers: Vishal Shekhar Akon Kuthu performance From: Funny and Entertainment Videos Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmtRxEn-9hw Hindustani vocals scene Singer: Faraz Khan Video Courtesy: Hindustan Musiograph Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pImY_n-I_zQ Tabla scene From: Jayanth Patnaik Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUYAMegBzFc Orchestra scene From: L'Orchestre de Jeux Vidéo - OJV Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quo97zeRfGI
