Monster Mash ~ Bobby "Boris" Picket (1962) ~ The Ultimate Spooky Halloween Party Song!

@hitonesrecordstore "Monster Mash" is a legendary 1962 novelty pop song performed by Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers. Released in August 1962, the track climbed to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart just before Halloween, cementing its legacy as America's ultimate spooky anthem. The song was co-written by Pickett and Leonard Capizzi in roughly 30 minutes, and the studio recording took less than half an hour. DIY Sound Effects: Producer Gary S. Paxton utilized clever, low-budget studio tricks to generate the spooky atmosphere: • The bubbling cauldron was created by blowing bubbles through a straw into a glass of water. • The creaking coffin door was achieved by pulling a rusty nail out of a wooden board. • The rattling chains were simulated by dropping real metal chains onto the studio's tile floor. #monster #song #halloween #vampire #noveltysong #spooky
