Showcasing his signature baritone voice and vivid storytelling, this intimate performance highlights Wall’s gritty, authentic take on traditional country and Western folk music. Featuring Colter Wall on acoustic guitar and vocals, the session captures the Canadian singer-songwriter shortly after the release of his acclaimed 2017 self-titled debut album. Performing standout tracks including “Kate McCannon,” “Sleeping on the Blacktop,” and “Thirteen Silver Dollars,” Wall brings the dark, acoustic storytelling and rugged Americana spirit of the North American plains to life. Recorded during his breakout year, this Paste Studios session helped introduce Wall to a global audience, solidifying his reputation as one of the most distinctive young voices in modern roots music. His music stands alongside modern country and Americana classics from artists like Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Zach Bryan, Cody Jinks, and Jason Isbell. Produced during a wave of renewed interest in traditional roots music, the 2017 Paste Studios performance showcases Colter Wall’s stripped-down live sound at its purest, celebrating the rich heritage of classic country, blues, and folk traditions.
