Alan Parsons Project Closer to Heaven

Track 3 from their tenth album “Gaudi” copyright 1987 Arista Records and recorded at The Grange in Norfolk, England and Mayfair Studios in London. It was a tribute to Spanish architect Antonoli Gaudi who designed the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, a grand project which has been under construction since 1882. Longtime bassist David Paton left the band to join Elton John’s touring band and was replaced by Richard Cottle’s brother Laurie. The single “Standing on Higher Ground” reached No. 3 on the Mainstream Rock chart in the U.S. The album reached No. 1 in Spain and was certified Gold in that country. The album received poor reviews at the time, which is an absolute travesty. Written and produced by Alan Parsons & Eric Woolfson. RIP Eric Woolfson, Chris Rainbow, John Miles & Ian Bairnson.
