About CoMaps

CoMaps is a free community map app for Android and iPhone, built around OpenStreetMap data. Its downloaded maps support place search and turn-by-turn voice navigation on foot, by bicycle or by car. Download the regions you need before leaving a connection.

Outdoor mode highlights trails, campsites and water sources. Contour lines help you inspect the terrain, while route preferences include avoiding paved roads, unpaved roads or steps. These controls suit people who want to plan around the type of journey they are taking.

Saved places and tracks make it easier to return to a location. The Android app documents automatic backups for these records. Place pages can include opening details, links and offline Wikipedia articles where the underlying data supplies them.

CoMaps grew from Organic Maps and continues as a separate community project. It is free to use. Maps occupy phone storage and need periodic updates; external links and contributions to shared map data can require internet access.
